Welcome to the magical world of Llampaca!
Llampaca is a first-of-its-kind alpaca collecting android game where the user must take challenge photos of specific objects they can find in their house.
Gameplay
.
- When you start the game, you (the farmer) are in an empty alpaca field.
- You will be given challenges, for example: "Take a photo of an apple!"
- You must then track down a real apple and take a photo of the object. This photo is uploaded to the cloud and machine learning is used to verify whether the object in the photo is a match.
- Every time you get a new matching photo you win a llampaca, which may also come with some special facts about this species.
- The app is useful for language learning, scavenger hunt parties and also just to have fun and collect alpacas.
Machine Learning Database
The application utilizes Google's firebase machine learning kit. Each time the user uploads a challenge photo, this photo is uploaded and compared to thousands of other photos of the sought object. Check out a firebase sync code snippet below:
Background
This application was developed by a team consisting of Maxine Perroni-Scharf (Dartmouth) and Andrei Stanciu (Vassar) during a study abroad term at the Aquincum Institute of Technology in Budapest, Hungary. The application was developed in kotlin from start to finish in 2 weeks, and was selected for the showcase at the AIT graduation ceremony out of over 20 other student android projects.
